Chair’s Message

It is with immense joy and responsibility that I welcome you to the Bucharest MICS Symposium: Updates in Minimally Invasive, Endoscopic, and Endovascular Procedures.

This inaugural meeting of our Symposium is particularly special as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Emergency University Hospital of Bucharest’s Cardiovascular Surgery Department. For a decade, our department has been a crucible for innovation, clinical excellence, and the relentless pursuit of better outcomes for our patients.

The paradigm of cardiac surgery has shifted. Today, minimally invasive procedures (MICS) represent no longer an alternative, but the standard in cardiac surgery. We have reached a point in our surgical evolution where a vast majority cardiovascular procedures can, and should, be performed through less traumatic approaches. Minimally invasive approaches, totally endoscopic cardiac surgery and transcatheter procedures stands at the pinnacle, and offer the least invasive profile possible while maintaining results that are at least non-inferior to conventional approaches.

Our patients are the driving force behind this evolution. They expect not only good results, but also a fast recovery, a quick return to their daily routine, and superior cosmetic results. It is our duty to use the surgical precision for a better patient’s quality of life.

For one day, Bucharest will be the capital of minimally invasive cardiac surgery. This symposium is more than a scientific gathering; it is a forum where the future of our specialty is being presented. We invite you to engage with new perspectives, challenge the status quo, and collaborate as we reshape the future of surgical intervention.

Welcome to Bucharest. Welcome to the future of cardiac surgery.
